Dhalapathar Saree-Nritya

An authentic Dhalapathar village weaved GI Tagged Dhalapathar saree.

Dhalapathar village has a handful of weavers from Rangani community now who continue to weave this saree.

Dhalapathar sarees showcase intricate weaving using a flat wooden plank, called Chiari, and no other Extra-weft/Jaala tool is used, thus resulting in appearance of weft ribs that we find in the motifs.

The process is detail orientation and extremely time consuming.

This Dhalapathar saree is different from the revived ones being weaved at different clusters in Odisha.

Owing to rich red pigmented dye, we recommend professional cleaning of your saree.
