An ancient pattern, which Sri. Bijoy Chandra Mohanty in his book on Ikat of Odisha & Andhra calls as Baghambari.
He has attributed this saree to the Bargarh cluster of weavers.
Bagh means Tiger and Ambar means cloth. The distinctive feature of this saree are the multi-petal opened flowers which are placed randomly, symbolizing blooming lotus, which also appears as lion’s face with mane, hence the name.
Body colour is pearl white( unbleached) with maroon-red combination for border, palla, and blouse fabric.
A must have cotton saree for your wardrobe .
Fine thick cotton yarn weaving.
